Recruiting roundup

With the 2016/17 season coming to an end, and NEC tournament play right around the corner it is soon recruiting season. RMU will have four open spots assuming nobody transfers, and we all know how that can go…

Before we dive into the NEC tournament, here is a look at what we know, and some new offers.

Commits: Koby Thomas and Jonathan Williams have both committed. They will both be true freshmen. That would leave two pending spots.

Recently, RMU offered Morehead State transfer Malik Maitland, a 5-11 guard who can fill it up. Maitland was averaging 9 points and 4 rebounds per-game before deciding to transfer. His last game was December 13th 2016 so I would assume he would have to sit out the first semester but would be eligible for the 2nd semester next season. According to Verbal Commits, Maitland has offers from Winthrop, Albany, and Bethune-Cookman.

RMU has kept their eye on a bunch of freshmen but Andy Toole doesn’t have to be too desperate. The Colonials return most of their lineup on paper (again, assuming nobody transfers) and will have big man David Cole available after he took a red-shirt year this season.

We will continue to track Maitland and other offers.
