RMCMB News and Notes

With the off-season in full swing, there are some news and notes to pass along as we near the end of the 2016 recruiting window.

Robert Morris has had a few transfers. Rodney Pryor (Grad Transfer) is off to Georgetown to test himself in the Big East. This marks back to back seasons an RMU player has transferred to a power conference team (Marcquise Reed, Clemson). Elijah Minnie could make it three. While it hurts losing this type of talent, it shows just how good of a recruiter Andy Toole is.

Stephen Bennett also committed to IUPUI as he transferred home to finish his career. He’ll have one year of eligibility left.

The Colonials also lost another transfer in G Steve Whitley. This was more unexpected as Whitley really came along toward the end of the season and was primed for a big role in his sophomore season.

With the loss, Andy Toole has offered 6-6 Guard Kashaun Hicks. We’ll see if the Colonials can land him. Hicks has great size and can attack the basket. He has offers from Manhattan and Iona as well as CCSU.  Toole also extended his first offer to a 2018 prospect in PG Jordan Walker. Walker has offers from Wagner, Monmouth and Iona among others on the table and would be a great fit.

RMU has added road games at Virginia and at Kansas State early in the season. Expect a few more games in the midwest when RMU heads to KSU.

Matty McConnell had successful surgery on his shoulder.
